Hi!
To avoid confusion - you may have heard the name Ms. Pollard, but it has
changed to Mrs. Bamford because I got married over the summer :).
This is my second year teaching at Grisham. I've also taught English overseas
- 2 years in Japan, a month in Italy, and 5 months in Switzerland. Because I
was raised as an Army Brat, I have the travel bug! I have lived in 5 foreign
countries (Saudi Arabia, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Switzerland) and have
visited countless others.
After moving every 1-4 years with the Army, my family settled in Austin
right before I started 9th grade. I am a graduate of Westwood High School
and have a B.S. from (Southwest) Texas State University. Back then, we had a
gymnastics team and I was on it for all four years of high school - plus two
years on the UT and SWT teams. Before becoming a teacher, I worked in
recreation at summer and outdoor camps and for a retirement community. I
also worked as a single adult ministry director.
In addition to traveling as much as possible, I love to read, watch movies,
dance, snowboard, spend time with my husband, Daniel(as well as friends
and family), and participate in church activities. I don't have time to
watch much TV, so I catch up with my favorite shows online (Lost, Heroes,
Dancing With the Stars, etc...). I do, however, make time to watch
Longhorn and Dallas Cowboy football... and I have a fantasy football team (Go
SS Rabid Giraffes!). My favorite animals are giraffes and dogs. We currently
have a chihuahua named Daisy, but unfortunately can't fit a giraffe in the
house.
If you have little brothers and sisters, come see me at the Lakeline Barnes
and Noble once a month. I wear the costumes for storytime (usually the 3rd
or 4th Saturday of the month at 11:00). I've been Curious George, Clifford
the Big Red Dog, Miffy, the Velveteen Rabbit, Little Critter, and more.
