After a long sabbatical, I returned to the teaching profession in the fall
of 1998. I started in Round Rock by substitute teaching and discovered a
place for me in Middle School. I began teaching 6th grade Math in the fall
of 1999 at Hopewell Middle School. I am constantly learning from my students
and I look forward to what this school year can bring.
In 2003, I moved to 7th grade math and discovered a new place for me to
grown and learn. In 2004, I was asked to take a new math intervention
position working with all three grade levels. In 2005, I began working
exclusively with 7th grade students in the intervention/extension program
here at Hopewell.
I have been married for 30 years and have three children. My son, who is
now 27, was married December 1, 2008. He is pursuing his professional
career in Houston after graduating from TAMU in August of 2007 with a Masters
in Land Development. My daughter, who is now 24, graduated from Texas A&M
in August. She is currently attending graduate school at the University of
Kansas where she is pursuing a masters in Architecture. My youngest
daughter, who is 19, is a sophmore at Texas A&M University. She is working on
a business degree and enjoys being a part of the fightin' Texas Aggie class
of 2014! Gig 'Em!
I have been the Huddle Coach for Fellowship of Christian Athletes here at
Hopewell since 2000. We are currently in the process of rebuilding our
Huddle as most of our leaders went to Hernandez Middle School. If your child
is interested in learning more about FCA, please encourage them to ask me in
class about when we meet and how to get involved!
This year marks a return to to 6th grade where I started 13 years ago.
My goal as a teacher is to provide a quality learning environment for all
students. I believe all students can learn if they choose to work hard and
they are not afraid to ask for help when needed.
