About The School Speech/Language Pathologist

My name is Hannah Markowitz. I am Hopewell Middle School's Speech-Language
Pathologist. I received my Bachelor's degree from the University of Texas-
Austin, and my Master's degree at the University of Northern Colorado. I
have worked in several different school environments from elementary to high
school. My experiences have allowed me to gain knowledge and skills in
working with a wide variety of disorders and disabilities including multiply
handicapped, autism spectrum disorders, emotionally disturbed, learning
disabled, stuttering, articulation disorders, and augmentative/assistive
communication devices (AAC).

What We Do

School based speech-language pathologists complete comprehensive assessments,
develop goals and objectives, facilitate therapy sessions, and colloborate
and consult with teachers and other school-based professionals to increase
student success in the academic or functional setting. We work with a wide
variety of speech and language disorders including expressive language,
receptive language, articulation, stuttering, and pragmatics. We provide a
variety of therapy types including direct, one-to-one therapy, small group
therapy, and in the classroom therapy support. Students must qualify to
receive speech/language therapy, which is a special education service.
