Science Policies and Procedures

Work:
To determine each day's assignment and possible homework/upcoming projects
or tests, check student's agenda or the "agenda/assignments" page on this
website. Daily assignments and class agenda are written on the whiteboard
for the students to copy in their assignment books.

Students are expected to write their assignments daily.

Tutorials: Students may ask for assistance during morning advisory 7:50 to 8:15 am
Monday through Friday. Other arrangements may be made by appointment.

Late Work: Students are expected to turn in all work completed when due.
Points will be deducted for any late work according to the following time
frame: 1 day late = 30 points. 2 days late = 50 points. 3 days late =
zero given. If late work becomes a persistent problem, the above may change.

A "due date" reminder is posted on the board in the classroom, and students
should be writing due dates in their agenda.

Test Corrections: Students may correct failing tests for the maximum of a
70 according to the following criteria: 1) corrections are done in my
presence within 3 days of the test being returned. 2) notes/book may be
used, but all corrected answers must be correct for credit to be changed.
3) times for corrections will be posted on the board in the classroom. it
is the student's responsibility to come at one of the announced times or to
make other arrangements.

Grading Policies: Grading policies are established by the grade level
departments. The following is for 7th grade science only: Major category
(60%)= tests, quizzes, projects, labs, etc. Daily category (40%)=
classwork, homework, logic, participation, etc. "Major" is determined by
the difficulty of the work &/or the time needed to accomplish the task.
