I graduated with a B.A. in History and Interdisciiplinary Studies and I
obtained a Masters Degree in Russian and East European Studies.
I have taught U.S. History and PreAp U.S. History for 17 years and I am
extremely enthusiastic about the subject! I am fortunate that I continue to
look forward to each day, especially to be among the students. When I am
conversing with friends,I refer to my students as "my kids". However, I do
have 2 wonderful children of my own; my daughter, Anna Katherine, is in
college. She transfered from A&M to UT Dallas this year. My son, Alexander,
is at UT Austin. They both have attended RRISD since we moved here 12
years ago. I also have a "baby", my yellow lab Sadie! I just got married
2 yers ago to an archeologist, a wonderful person and my best friend!
I am the History Department Chair, a Team Leader and the sponsor of NJHS. If
you have questions or concerns please email me!
My mission for my students is to aquire a sound conceptual knowledge of U.S.
History from Colonization to Reconstruction. They will take a TAKS test in
the 11th grade, 40% of which will cover the material they are learning this
year. Consequentally I want them to learn the fundamental concepts and
events, not trivial dates and battles. We will draw parallels and make
connections to our lives today in order to make their learning relevant.
Lastly, my mission is that each student will learn and hopefully enjoy
coming to my history class.
