ICHS offers 12 college hours to seniors as dual credit for English IV, Government & Economics. Juniors have the opportunity to take 6 college hours as dual credit for US History. The US History is an online course which requires a high level of personal responsibility & initiative. All students taking college classes must meet the Texas Success Initiative (TSI). This means you must have scored at least a 2200 on your TAKS math & ELA with a 3 on the essay portion. If you do not meet these standards you can take an alternate assessment such as the Accuplacer. The TSI has been established in accordance with the Texas Education Code to assess students’ college-level skills in reading, writing, and math. More information can be found in the Howard College Handbook for Dual Credit High School Students located on the documents page of this website.
