Can you give my child more homework?

I give each child homework each night. If you would like
to have your child doing more, I encourage you to visit a teacher supply
store to get additional resources. I feel
that kids do need to be kids and I definitely do not want them to dislike
school because of their overwhelming homework.

How will you give my child the education they deserve?

I am an advocate for differentiation(meeting each child at their level). I
have extension activities to where a child will never ask "What do I do
next?". If you child needs challenges, I will meet those needs.

What can I do to help?

I always need help with copies, filing, and cutting. If you would like to
purchase anything, visit my wish list link. The most important thing you
can do to help is to encourage your child and compliment them on their
achievements. Children are so sensitive, and it is important to give them
positive feedback, so the will want to keep on going. Also, please keep
reading the things brought home each day and check with your child about
what is going on in class.

If I need to take my child out early, what do I do?

You need to go through the office and get a badge and red slip. I can't
release your child unless I have the slip in hand. The reason for this is
so other people in the school know it is ok for you to be in the school
because you have that visito sticker. If you do not get one, you will be
asked to go back to the office and get one.

How do I let my child know to go home a different way?

Call the office, so they can let me know. I will not always get your
message in time on the phone or on email.

If I need to talk to you about something what do I need to do?

You can leave me a message on my phone 428-2226, and I will call you at the
end of the day. OR you can email me or call to make an appointment so I can
speak with you after school or during my conference at 8:00. I sometimes
will have meetings or tasks that need to be completed, and do not want that
to interfere with the time we need to talk. I want my full attention to be
on what you would like to discuss.

Do you celebrate birthdays?

Yes! I think it is important to be recognized on the day your child was
born. I will have the class sing to them, put a hat on them, and give them
a tiny treat bag. If you want to bring cookies or a treat for the class, I
will hand them out at the end of the day, so it does not interfere with
their learning.

When can my child go to the restroom?

They are allowed to go at any time I am not speaking in front of the whole
class. They have lots of oppurtunities. We also go on the way to recess
and on the way to and back from lunch. They show me their thumb and I let
them go.

How do I read their green folder?

The sheet that has the month at the top is their behavior sheet. If they
have a stamp, they had a good or great day. IF they have a note written in
their, they have moved their clip more than once and have broken a rule of
the class more than twice in one day. Each day they move back to green. If
they move up to yellow after a warning, they owe 5 minutes of recess. If
they have moved it to red, they owe 10 minutes. If a more severe behavior
happens, they may have a different consequence, depending on the situation.

Snacks?

Please send your child with a healthy snack. We will eat it during recess.
Twinkies, candy, and sugary foods are not healthy, and are not condusive to
their learning environment.
