Our IIM Research Project has begun! First the children voted on what their
topic should be. It was an overwhelming majority vote for pandas! Next,
each table wrote down what they already knew about pandas. Then, we each
wrote questions we have about pandas on post-it notes. We quickly realized
that many of us had the same questions, so the children took on the task of
sorting their questions. Next, they came up with categories for the
questions and sorted again. During e-slot time we used skills from our math
lessons on equal groups to determine how many people would be working
together to learn more about each category. Friday's e-slot time was much
anticipated as the children were finally able to get to the fun part -
research! We will continue the research process, which will end with
presentations to the other first grade classes to teach them all about
pandas! Be sure to ask your child what they are learning and pandas and
research.
Be sure to check our class snapfish room for pictures of this week's events.
Please continue to check our website and newsletter for updates on what is
going on with our Clements Cubs.

Parents,
Please remember to keep you child at home if they are sick. The district
policy is that they are fever free for 24 hours without fever reducing
medication, before returning to school. A fever is any temperature over
100.4. This policy can be found in the student handbook, on the district
website, and the Laurel Mountain website.
In addition, if your student is diagnosed with flu they must remain out for 7
days or until fever free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. Please call the
school nurse at 464-4305 if your student is diagnosed with the flu.
We want to do everything we can to keep our students healthy during the flu
season! Please call us if you have any questions.
Thank you!
