Dear Parents,
Welcome to first grade at Laurel Mountain! My name is Kim Clements and I am
privileged to be your child’s teacher this year. We will be Mrs. Clements’ Cubs. The first grade
team has been working hard this summer preparing for a great year full of fun, challenges,
learning and independence!
This begins my third year at Laurel Mountain and my 13th year in education. I obtained my
degree from the University of Texas at Austin. I am certified to teach Pre-K through eighth grade,
English as a Second Language and Talented and Gifted students. I taught at Hyde Park Elementary in
kindergarten for 10 years before coming to Laurel Mountain.
I feel my strength is in working with younger students. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn
serve as a motivation for me. It is my goal to meet children’s individual needs to make them
confident students who feel safe to explore and reach past any goals they could have imagined.
My husband Kelly and I have three sons, Kody (13), Kyle (11), and Kolton (8).
We are all lovers of sports and the outdoors, so there is never a dull moment in our house! We
had a summer full of baseball games and a relaxing trip to the beach before beginning school. I
hope you had a restful and rejuvenating summer with your family as well, and are ready for a busy,
fun year of learning and new experiences!
My mission as a teacher is to challenge each child, guide them to become independent and confident
learners, and most importantly to get to know and value each child as an individual learner with
unique strengths and talents. I value you, the parents, as your child’s first and best teacher. I am
looking forward to partnering with you to make this a productive year for your child!
Kim Clements
Mrs. Clements’ Cubs Mission is to come to school ready to learn. We will do
our best and always keep trying. We will be independent and kind to others.
We will remember to follow the rules, be responsible and respect everyone.
