Welcome, to our website! It will be updated on Friday afternoons or
by Monday of each week. Use it to keep up with current class
activities, assignments, and other items of interest. Keep in mind that
while the website is updated regularly, this should not be considered a
substitute for each student's homework folder and planner which should
outline daily assignments, test dates, and long-term projects in detail.

For the week of February 6 - 10, students will:
*continue our unit on astronomy. Student lab presenations begin on Thursday.
•How often does the day-and-night cycle occur on the Earth?
•What causes the day and night? How can we model the day-and-night cycle?
•Where is the Sun during the day? Where is the Sun during the night?
•Where is Earth’s moon during the day? Where is the Earth’s moon during the
night?
•On the Earth it looks like the Sun is moving across the sky. Why is this not
true?
•What are the physical characteristics of the Sun, the Earth, and Earth's
moon?
*continue our geometry unit. Students are responsible for the vocabulary and
formulas associated with this unit.
How do characteristics help identify geometric figures? How do the terms
parallel, perpendicular, and congruent help identify two- and three-
dimensional shapes? What is used to compare shapes? What different ways can
the position of a geometric figure be changed on a plane? How does a shape
translate? How does a shape reflect? How does a shape rotate? How can the
coordinate system be used to describe locations of geometric figures? How can
the transformation or series of transformations that have been performed on a
figure be determined, given the original position and the final position?
*study the development of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
Later in the week, students will be given a rubric for a government picture
book that they'll be creating for a 2nd grade audience.
•What were the events that led to the creation of the U.S. Constitution?
•Who were the individuals that were important to the formation of the United
States?
•What are the important ideas in the U.S. Constitution including the Bill of
Rights?
•What are the individual rights of all Americans?
•How is the government of the United States organized?
•Why is effective leadership important in a constitutional-republic?
