This is my eleventh year at Laurel Mountain, but I have been teaching 5th
graders for 20 years. Previously, I was at Gattis Elementary in Round Rock
for 8 years and Atlanta, Georgia for 2 years. I received a Bachelor of
Science degree in Elementary Education but also have a minor in music. In
the last few years, I've received TAG and ESL certification. Laurel
Mountain is a wonderful school with students who are eager to learn and a
faculty and staff that are supportive and innovative.
My husband and I have been married for 39 years and have 3 adult children who
all live in the Austin area.
Heather and her husband Jerad have four sons: Wyatt, Seth,
Reece, and Eli - all very handsome and highly intelligent young men! Our son,
John, is a Children's Pastor at a church in the Westlake area, and their son,
Colton, is a happy and adventurous one year old. Yes, that's 5 grandsons; we
are blessed! Our daughter, Tamara, is single and enjoys her work with a
local recruiting firm. We have an active Irish Setter named Piper and 4
Arabian horses: a 12 year old mare, Bini, who had her first foal in April
2010, a 3 year old filly named Bella, and another young filly named
Priscilla. Mr. Sorrell and I enjoy traveling, snow skiing, and spending time
together as a family.
