About The Teacher

Welcome back to school! My name is Elizabeth Schuster, and I am thrilled to
be your child’s third grade teacher at Laurel Mountain Elementary. I very
much look forward to a year of learning and discovery.
A classroom is a community, and the students and parents I spend my
workdays with are an integral part of my life. As I look forward to getting
to know you and your child, I want to let you know a few things about me. I
am a “virtual” native Austinite, having lived in the Austin area since I was
three years old. I attended Austin public schools growing up, and attended
college at the University of Texas at Austin. This is my eleventh year of
teaching and my fourth year at LME. My six year-old son, Zachary, will enter
first grade here this fall. (He and I are in the bottom-right corner of the
photograph above.)
Right now I am feeling the same combination of hope, excitement and slight
nervousness on behalf of my child that every parent feels at the beginning of
a new school year. Will he reach his academic potential? Will he make
friends? Will he enjoy the year ahead? These questions are buzzing in my
mind, and I know they’re in your minds for your own children, too. Making
the answer to all of those questions “yes” for each of your children is my
mission as a teacher at Laurel Mountain.
My students are known as Ms. Schuster’s Superstars. To me, every student
is a star: I recognize that each child I work with is as precious and unique
as my own son. Nothing excites me so much as seeing a student’s eyes light
up with excitement about what he or she is learning. I know from experience
that a classroom of students presents a variety of personalities and learning
styles, and that a variety of teaching techniques are required to help all
students be challenged and to succeed. My goal is for your child to thrive,
feel personally nurtured and valued, and to feel that he or she has an active
role in the learning process.
I look forward to working with you throughout the school year. If you ever
have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at
Elizabeth_Schuster@roundrockisd.org.

Mission For The Class

My mission as a teacher is to provide my students with the knowledge and
skills they will need to excel in life, as well as to inspire them to become
independent lifelong learners, willing and able to make their own
discoveries.
