Here are a few announcements...
You received a white Enrichment Fund envelope in the Monday folder this past
week. Please be aware that making a donation is voluntary. If you choose not
to make a donation please send back the envelope empty. This will let the
office know that you have seen the information and are choosing not to donate
at this time. If we get all of our envelopes back (EVEN IF THEY ARE EMPTY)
our class will get to participate in a "Fun Friday" event later this
semester. Last year the event was a magic show which the kids LOVED. Please
help us be able to attend this event by returning your envelope. We need 100%
of the envelopes in our class returned (EVEN IF THEY ARE EMPTY) in order to
attend. Please help! Here is a message I have been asked to forward to you
regarding the campaign...
Excellence Fund Campaign 2009
In order to provide monetary support to implement the Schoolwide Enrichment
Model (SEM) at Laurel Mountain, the leadership team has set up a fund through
Round Rock ISD. Only with the support of our parents and community can we
make the SEM educational experience a reality. Last year 70% of our LME
families financially supported the SEM Excellence Fund. This year our goal is
100% participation, and we hope to raise the $75,000 required to keep the
program going at Laurel Mountain.
The Excellence Fund Campaign kicked off Tuesday, September 8 and continues
through Friday, September 25. Of course, donations are accepted at any time
of the year. Please refer to the Excellence Fund brochure and envelope that
was sent home in last week’s Monday folder which provides more detailed
information about SEM at Laurel Mountain. More information is also on our
updated website, http://www.lmesem.org.
Conference Sign-up…Don’t forget to select a time for your fall conference.
Work and family commitments make it difficult for me to offer additional time
slots. I trust that there are a variety of options and that everyone will
find a time that works for them. Please be sure to visit my website to choose
a time ASAP. The password is (see email previously sent).
Library…Today (Friday) was our library day. If your child forgot to return
their library book it is okay. Just send them back next Friday and they will
have another opportunity to check books out then.
Help…I would love some volunteers to come in periodically to help with
sharpening both writing pencils and colored pencils. It would be great if I
could get a volunteer to come on Tuesdays and another to come on Thursdays.
The best time for this would be either 9:10 or 12:30. Let me know if you
would like to help with this and which day you prefer. The kids like having
sharp pencils and it is difficult for me to keep up with the demand.
Roster…I have sent out a class roster. Please let me know if you find a
mistake and I will make corrections. I hope this document is useful to you in
scheduling play dates and other social events between the students.
SNACK
Our snack time is also our quiet reading time. Please send a small, healthy
DRY
snack such as fruit or crackers with your child each day. Please be sure that
the snack you send with your child is NUT FREE. We have some SEVERE allergies
in our class this year and we want to keep everyone safe. The only way to
guarantee a snack for your child is to send it yourself. Each child must
bring his/her own snack.
DAILY TAKE-HOME FOLDERS
Each day your child will bring home a blue "Take Home" folder. The folder
contains information on behavioral expectations for the first grade as well
as a behavior calendar. In the weeks to come, it may also contain important
notes from me. Please initial the behavior chart and send it back to school
with your child each day.
WEEKLY FOLDERS
Every Monday your child will also bring home a red "Monday Folder". Be sure
to check it for important school information. The folder needs to be signed
and
returned each Tuesday.
