McCullough's Marvels

5/14/12

Announcements from 504
Live Museum
All went well at the Live Museum. Our session was well attended and our Texans performed beautifully.

Poet Visit
Our guest speaker last Friday, Usha Akella, was wonderful. She inspired the students to tap into the power and wonder of nature. The students wrote wonderful haiku poems. We will share them at our Poetry Tea. Many thanks to Usha.

Symphony Field Trip
Fourth Grade will be visiting the Austin Symphony this coming Thursday, May 17th. The kids will need a sack lunch. We will have a late lunch, so packing extra snacks would be a good idea. Look for the permission slip in the Monday Folder.

Poetry Tea
Students will host our annual Poetry Tea this Friday, May 18th from 8:15-9:30. At this event the students will provide refreshments, entertainment, and recite their original poetry. Each student will volunteer to bring a little something for the event. We should have assignments tomorrow.

Lost and Found
The students will be stopping by the Lost and Found this week to claim anything belonging to them. We are missing a couple of things around the room that we thought would have shown up by now. One is an I-Pod with a cupcake cover. The other is a Micro Mate thumb drive. If you happen upon either of these, please let me know.

Spring Conferences

The students completed fabulous presentations to reflect on their 4th grade year. I will send the presentations home via email as soon as I get a chance.

At our Spring Showcase and conferences many parents had questions about how to maintain skills over the summer. Luckily we have great resources here at LME. The student text books should be available online over the summer. Journey's is a great resource for reading. Envisions Math will also be available for review work. Also, don't forget Renzulli. Students can search for activities, projects, books, websites, and research ideas in their interest areas.
