What is the lunch card account procedure?
Your child will use a lunch card to pay for lunch. We keep the
cards in a pocket chart in our classroom. Your child takes
his/her card when we line up for lunch. The children walk
through the lunch line, taking the entree they ordered in the
morning and at least 2 side dishes. At the end of the lunch line
they give their lunch cards to the cashier who scans the the
cards and returns them to me.
You may pay in advance for as many lunches as you like. Even if
your child brings money for one lunch at a time, the money has to
be entered in the morning and your child will still use his/her
lunch card. It works very well to keep a balance on the account
so your child doesn't have to turn in money each day he/she buys
lunch.
You may pre-pay student meals and check your account balance
online at www.pamslunchroom.com. You can also send money or a
check in an envelope with your child's name/grade/ID number on it
to be placed in the cafeteria collection box by the principal's
office at school. You can find your child's ID number on the
inside of the red Daily Folder or call 464-4302 for this
information. Please keep track of your balance and replenish as
needed.
Please call 464-4318 or email
LaurelMountain_Cafeteria@RoundRockisd to contact the
cafeteria staff if you have more questions.
What time is lunch? May I join my child for lunch?
Our lunch time is 10:48-11:18. You are welcome to join your
child for lunch after the first 2 weeks of school. This allows
your child time to get used to school routines. You may meet our
class by the cafeteria for lunch. You will need to sign in
at the office first. When lunch is over, please make a quick
good-bye to your child as we line up, and remember to sign out in
the office. Thanks!
How do I order lunch for myself?
Please call the cafeteria at 464-4318 to order a lunch. Lunch
orders must be received by 8:30 AM.
How are birthdays recognized at school? May I send treats for the class?
In our classroom we recognize birthdays with cheers and a speical
pencil and sticker for the birthday child. The following
guidelines are in the Laurel Mountain Family Handbook:
Please do not pass out party invitations at school as this often
results in hurt feelings. We cannot have birthday parties in the
classroom. Due to regulations from the Dept. of Agriculture,
parents will not be allowed to bring treats to school to
celebrate birthdays.
How can I get my child's student ID number?
There is a label inside your child's red folder with his/her ID
number. You may also call Mrs. Cohen at 464-4302 to obtain your
child's student ID number.
What kind of shoes are best for school?
Athletic style shoes are best for every day. Please send your
child in shoes that he/she can manage independently. While it's
great to practice tying shoes at home, until your child can tie
them well enough and quickly enough they can be difficult to
manage at school and can be a safety issue.
Sandals, crocs and clogs are not recommended for school. The
children have physical activity everyday, including PE and
recess. We also have exercise time on days that we do not go to
PE.
Should I notify the school if my child will be absent?
Yes. Please email the school attendance clerk,
Bonnie_Cohen@RoundRockisd.org to report your child's absence.
Your email will serve as a written note so your child will have
an excused absence.
You can send the email to me as well so I know that your child
will not be here, Cathy_Miranda@RoundRockisd.org.
What are the school guidelines for sick children?
Please remember to keep you child at home if they are sick. The
district policy is that they are fever free for 24 hours without
fever reducing medication, before returning to school. A fever is
any temperature over 100.4. This policy can be found in the
student handbook, on the district website, and the Laurel
Mountain website.
In addition, if your student is diagnosed with flu they must
remain out for 7 days or until fever free for 24 hours, whichever
is longer. Please call the school nurse at 464-4305 if your
student is diagnosed with the flu.
We want to do everything we can to keep our students healthy
during the flu season! Please call the nurse if you have any questions.
What do I do if my child is late (tardy) in arriving to school?
Students arriving between 7:45 and 8:00 AM should go directly to
class and will be marked tardy. If you bring your child after
8:00 AM please walk your child to the office to sign in. Between
8:10-9:15 M-Th and 9:00-10:00 on Fridays your child will need an
escort to the correct location as the children will not be in the
classroom due to PE, music and art classes.
How do I arrange for my child to ride the bus home with a friend for a playdate?
Please contact the school attendance clerk, Bonnie_Cohen@RoundRockisd.org in the office or by email to arrange for a bus pass. Your child must give this form to the bus driver in order to be admitted on the bus.
Please also inform me of the transportation change by email or note. Cathy_Miranda@RoundRockisd.org.
