Thank you to the Wilson Family for supplying our Snazzy Snack ingredients this week. We made Groundhog Grub. It was both cute and yummy!
Also, thank you to Monica Araoz who taught an art lesson to my enrichment cluster last Friday. If you are interested in art, would like to develop your skills or have a child with a budding interest in art, I would highly recommend Monica Araoz. Not only is she an exceptional artist, but she is also an engaging and talented teacher. Her Art Academy offers classes for all ages and all skill levels. She also has great summer camps if you are looking for a fun activity for your child this summer.

In case your child's moon viewer lost some of it's moons or labels, the above image shows the phases of the moon in the Northern Hemisphere.
Also, although I want your child to do their moon observations on their own, the link below to my husband's Austin Planetarium organization will provide you with the current day's moon phase (in case they are uncertain) along with other helpful information.

Also, there are several other helpful links under the Links tab that cover areas of our current curriculum: weather, money and global fest (Brazil).
Our classroom is in need of pencils. If you are able, please send a package of pencils to school with your child. We work hard in 2nd grade!
VALENTINE'S DAY MAILBOX!
Directions: Use a box of any kind (shoe box, cereal box, Kleenex box, mailing box, etc).
Boxes cannot be larger than a 12 inch cube.
Be creative, and decorate the box in any way. (They can be made from shoeboxes covered with bulletin board paper/comics, decorated white lunch bags, or even covered cereal boxes or spray painted coffee cans!)
Include your name in a clearly visible location.
Make sure there is a slot to receive Valentine cards and a way for you to get your cards out of the box. This at-home project is due on February 13th.
Reminders:
Our class has collected: 1,395 box tops! This is the highest number of box tops collected so far at LME. Keep sending them! We really appreciate your help. Deadline is February 28th.
Our school is collecting Box Tops. The money collected, will help the school to revitalize the PE field after this summer's drought. Several 2nd grade classes have decided to hold a FRIENDLY Box Top competition. The box tops need to be neatly cut out for us to turn them in. If you will do that at home, it will save us class time. There will be a Box Top bucket in our classroom to collect them. We are winning - so keep sending them to class!
Our library time is Tuesday at 8:30. Please have your child bring their books back on Tuesdays so they may check out new material.
Also, while the weather is cool, please have your child bring a jacket to school everyday. Unless it is very cold, we go outside everyday. Our P.E. classes also go outside.
