What are the procedures for book orders?

I will be sending home book orders from time to time. If you choose to order
books for your child, please fill out the form and send a check made out to
the book club. No cash can be accepted. Please put the order form and the
check in an envelope with your childs name on it. Sometimes orders from two
different companies may be sent at the same time to offer you a larger
selection. Ordering books for your child is optional, but it is an
inexpensive way to buy books. Bonus points from these orders are used to
acquire books for our classroom library. The orders will be in the Monday
folder and will be due on Friday.

What is the homework policy?

In an effort to help our second graders become more responsible, we use a
homework binder. Each day it is the students responsibility to write down
the homework in the red binder, take it home, complete the assignment, and
have it signed by a parent when the homework is finished. Unless otherwise
indicated, homework is due the following day.
Monday-Language Arts (spelling, writing, grammer)
Tuesday and Thursday-Read and Respond (Ideas for reponses are in the back of
the homework binder)
Wednesday-Math
**Each night your child should read a minimun of 10 minutes (15 minutes
starting in January) and pratice their math facts for 5 minutes a night.
**On Monday and Wednesday the kids need to record their reading in the
Reading Log located in the back of their homework binder.

What about snack?

Your child is welcome to bring a healthy snack to eat before Specials. This
should be something small and easy to eat. Children have access to the
water fountain throughout the day. Please do not send any other drinks for
snack. Thank you!
