When do behavior folders come home?
Behavior folders are no longer being sent home on Friday. Your child will receive a "Super Kid" ticket each day for staying on Green/Oh Happy Day. If they moved their name more than 2 times, you will receive a note titled "Making Good Choices" that will explain why your child did not receive a "Super Kid" ticket. First Grade is all about learning to get along, make good choices, and use self-control. Always call me if you have any questions or need clarification. My door is always open.Back to Top
How does the cafeteria work?
Your child has a lunch card already. It is also used as their library card. You may simply send check or cash with your child in an envelope and I will send your child down first thing in the morning to add the money to their account. Then their card is used like a credit card. A machine swipes and Ms. Rhonda checks the name and the student and debits their account. Please be aware that the cafeteria sells extra items such as,fruit roll-ups, chips, and gatorade. There is an extra fee for these items. You'll want to set guidelines with your child ahead of time.Back to Top
How will my child's individual learning needs be met?
Each child in my class is challenged to be their very best. If they are reading on a second grade level, then we are working on chapter books and comprehension. In math I have challenge problems to challenge those who are ready.Back to Top
What should I do if I have concerns about my child?
Please call me, email me, or leave me a phone message. I want every child in my class to succeed and working together we can make that happen!Back to Top
When should I have my child tested for Gifted and Talented?
The Gifted and Talented teacher suggests that children be tested in second grade. The testing is long and many first graders find it very overwhelming and shut down. If your child is tested in first grade and does not qualify, they cannot be retested until 3rd grade.Back to Top
I need the information about President/African American Poster Project
February 8, 2010Dear Parents, As part of our celebration of Black History Month and Presidents' Day, we will be conducting research on famous African Americans or Presidents of the United States. Your child will be responsible for creating a poster, which identifies the important achievements and attributes of their chosen famous person. The student must do the art work and writing. But please feel free to advise your child with spelling and choosing what to include on the poster. All posters will be due in the classroom on or before Friday, February 26th. Each child will give an oral presentation about their poster. They will need to describe the items on the poster, so please help your child practice the oral presentation at home. I will be able to provide some information about the famous person if necessary. Please visit the local library, or use books, encyclopedias, magazines, the Internet, etc. to gather information. The poster must include the following information: -Who the person was/is -When and where s/he was born -What were/are his or her accomplishments? -Why you chose this person to research -Use complete sentences to record information. -Student's name Remember this is first grade work, so make it simple for your child. With my two children, we answered the above questions in complete sentences. I will have their examples outside my room if you’d like to drop by and take a look. We look forward to seeing the posters and hearing the presentations. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at carol_bryan@roundrockisd.org or 428-3827. Thank you, Carol Bryan------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Complete this slip and return to the teacher by the end of the week:Child's Name _________________________Famous African American or President chosen for poster _________________________Signature of Parent _______________________Back to Top
