What is WATCH D.O.G.S.?About the Program...
WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is an innovative program from the National Ceenter for Fathering that focuses on violence prevention in our nation's schools by using the positive influence of fathers and father figures for a two-fold purpose:
1. to provide an unobtrusive presence in the schools 2. to be a positive and active role-model for students at their school
WATCH D.O.G.S. was founded by Jim Moore, a concerned father who chose to take action in response to a 1998 middle school shooting incident in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Joined with the National Center for Fathering in 2006, WATCH D.O.G.S. serves to inspire and equip men to be the involved fathers, grandfathers, and father figures that their students need. To find out more about this wonderful program, visit the WATCH D.O.G.S. website at the link below...
Live Oak began it's WATCH D.O.G.S. program during the 2007/08 school year. Each year, we have a new Kick-Off event to educate our new dads who might be interested in getting involved as a WATCH D.O.G. We encourage you to volunteer in this worthwhile capacity. You'll be the hero for the day as our students love our WATCH D.O.G.S.!!!
