I was absent or know I'm going to be absent. What should I do?
As much as possible, try not to be out during ASL. It's a visual language that requires your attendance. First and foremost, COMMUNICATE :) Let me know via email that you will be out or are at home with the flu or... etc. I'll email you and let you know what you need to make up missing assignments and how to get caught up on information/signs you missed during class. I can also set aside any handouts and email you the powerpoints from class. Any assignment that was due the day you were out is due the day you return. For PROJECTS:- Performance based projects are DUE on due date. Scheduled class time is set aside for your performance. Realize that it's not like other classes where you simply "turn in" your project.... it's a performance! Communicate with me immediately when you realize you'll be absent and we'll try to work something out if it was an excused absence. An alternative may be assigned or a videotaped performance may be required. TESTS/QUIZZES:-All tests and quizzes must be made up within ONE week of scheduled test/quiz day. Plan to come in the FOLLOWING THURSDAY for the MAKE UP TEST. Realize that make up tests/quizzes are very time consuming since I need to sign the test to you, so I do these as a group for all who missed once a week- Thursday before school and Thursday after school.- After one week, test and quiz grades become a ZERO.Back to Top
