I love teaching 4th and 5th grade because at this age students are
competent, curious, and have great senses of humor!
Although I am a native Texan, I also claim New York as my home, as I
lived there for 15 years, from 1987-2002, prior to moving back to Texas. I
studied folklore and anthropology in graduate school and worked in public
relations and promotions before becoming a teacher.
I have a M.S. in Elementary Education in the field of Instructional
Technology. I taught for about 10 years up in Brooklyn, NY including teaching
8th grade, 4th grade, computer skills, and library/literacy.
Upon returning to Texas, I worked as a writer/editor for an educational
testing company for several year, but I really missed teaching, so here I am!
I am married to Jack, a great guy who is a glass artist, and I have 3
wonderful children: Kevin, who is 21; Griff, who is 17;l and Ainsley, who is
6. I also have 2 dogs, Speedbump and Max, 2 cats, Tater and Tot, and a fish
named Pippy the Pip.
I love to read, hike and go camping.
