Policies

According to TEA policy: If a student is temporarily absent due to a
documented appointment with a health care professional and the student
commences classes or returns to school on the same day of the appointment
the child's absence will be removed. The appointment should be supported by
a document such as a note from the health care professional

Please note that for the purposes of the above section, a student must be in
class at least a portion of the day to be considered present.

Policy regarding Absences: A student not actually on campus at the time
attendance is taken (9:00 a.m.) is considered absent. After a student has
missed 5 days of attendance a letter will be sent home to notify the parent
of the absences. After 10 absences a second letter will be sent home and an
Attendance Referral Form will be submitted to the Truancy Officer. A
child's failure to attend school as mandated by the law may constitute the
offense of FAILURE TO ATTEND SCHOOL, which is defined in the Texas Education
Code Section 25.094 and/or TRUANCY, which is defined in the Texas Family
Code 51.03(b)(2)

Policy regarding Tardies: As stated in the Student Handbook for the Round
Rock Independent School District, students are expected to be in their
classroom at 7:45 a.m. each day. If students are not in their classrooms by
7:45 a.m. the student will receive a tardy pass. After a student has
received 10 tardies a letter will be sent home to notify the parent of the
tardies. After 20 tardies a second letter will be sent home. Please help
us make the learning day a more successful experience for our students by
stressing the importance of starting each day on time.
