By the end of the school year, each First Grade student will read,
identify, & write a minimum of 100 high-frequency words from the RRISD word
list. Note: Showing mastery of writing high-frequency words should come
from evidence in student writing - not a spelling test in the form of an
isolated list. Although the typical First Grade student is expected to gain
far more than 100 high-frequency words, this is the number set forth by the
Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
