Grading Procedures

Students in third through fifth grade receive two grades for Specials (Art,
Music, Wellness/PE). The grades will be for Participation and Skill.
Students in third through fifth grade will receive an E (Excellent), S
(Satisfactory), N (Needs Improvement), or U (Unsatisfactory) for their
Participation and Skill Grade.

Students in Kindergarten through second grade will receive a performance
level grade.

Here is a more specific explanation of the Kindergarten through Second grade
performance levels:

4 = Exceeding Expectations: Student consistently demonstrates mastery above
grade level TEKS.
3 = Meeting Expectations: Student consistently demonstrates mastery of grade
level TEKS.
2 = Making Progress: Student is making progress toward mastery of grade
level TEKS at an appropriate rate.
1 = Experiencing Difficulty: At this point in the year, student should have,
but has not yet mastered the skill.
/ = Not Assessed

The Performance Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 are NOT the same as the four grading
periods. They are levels of skill proficiency and should not be confused
with the grading periods. Most students will probably receive 2’s
throughout the year, meaning that they are making progress towards end of
year expectations.
Thanks so much for your support!
