Kickball for Four Kickers at a Time
Content: Talk to the children about tracking a kicked ball. Focus on the
angle of the kick and predict where the ball will be traveling. Change body
positions and make movement corrections to stop the ball from traveling a
great distance. Give the children a few examples.
Learning Experience: Divide the class into two even sides. This game is
played just like kickball, except four students kick at the same time. The
children have to run the bases before the outfielders bring all four balls
back to the deck ring stands. The outfielders can catch the balls in the air
to make an out. The kickers play for 12 runs or 8 outs which ever comes
first, then they switch sides. Each player on both teams should be able to
get about 4 or 5 turns during the entire game. A player does not stop on any
base. They just run around the bases trying to make it home before the
outfield put the balls back on the kicking deck rings.
Variation: Allow everyone to kick once before changing sides. Roll the ball
to all 4 kickers at the same time. Put in another two kickers and play with
six kickers on a side.
