The administration and staff at Our Lady of Sorrows School is dedicated to ensuring the safety and happiness of all our students. In pursuit of this goal, the Diocese of Brownsville has incorporated the “Protecting God’s Children” curriculum in its Catholic schools. “Protecting God’s Children” is designed to provide pertinent information on child sexual abuse prevention, as well as, safety techniques to be used by our children. Our Lady of Sorrows School is aware that parents are the first educators of their children. “Protecting God’s Children” is an essential tool that will supplement the information that you have already instilled in your child concerning their safety. I will be visiting each classroom (grades 1st - 8th) to present Lesson #5 (“grooming”) and Lesson #6 ("no secrets") throughout the school year. Students in K5 will receive information from Lesson #1 ("touching rules") and Lesson #2 ("identifying safe/unsafe friends"). Your child’s teacher will remain present throughout the lesson and activities that follow.
