Parents -
There is homework and spelling for the week of February 8 - 12, 2010. This week we will continue with the writing process in Language Arts. We will be working on identifying context clues within the text. Improving our word choice will help us become better writers this week. Social Studies will be all about famous Americans and Time Lines. In Math we are going to continue to improve our fraction skills.
We will be working on Spelling Sort #24 this week which focuses on long vowel sound.
Congratulations to Andy! He is our Stallion Star winner for next week!
Parents - please remember that Wednesday, February 10th is an early release day. Your children will be released from school at 12:45. Frday, February 12th will be the class Valentine's Party from 9 - 10am. I will have a sign-out sheet in the classroom for those of you who would like to begin your long weekend early! Also, Monday, February 15th there isn't any school!!!
Please continue to check and sign your child's planner each night. Also, please review your child's work that is sent home in their Thursday folders. Sign and return the empty folder on Friday.
This has been another great week working with your children.

I do not require an official reading log. I would like to save a tree this year. Please mark
down how many minutes your child read in their assignment notebook. Please sign it nightly.

Homework: It is not my intention to ruin your life with homework! I promise! I like to have a
life myself. If you or your child are having trouble with a specific night of homework. We
will work something out. Call me or email! I do not want the kids to have 2 hours of
homework. They need down time as well. FYI: It does take a few weeks for the kids to get
used to homework. They get more efficient, once they know the requirement.

If you have any questions/concerns do not hesistate to call/email. I will reply asap.
IF you are able, please have your student bring in a small plastic pencil
sharpener to keep at their desk. This would be extremely helpful.
A couple of dark colored low odor dry erase markers. We use dry erase often during math.
It is extremely important that you READ 20 minutes at min. a day. Lots of easy reading, makes
reading easy!
