About The Teacher

Once again another summer has flown by, and we’re ready to begin a new year.
This will be my twelfth year of teaching special education and I feel very
blessed that I get to do what I do.
I have spent a fun filled summer with my two sons and husband. We were lucky
to stay very active and do all of the things we love. We began our summer in
the Ozarks of Arkansas, and were able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors. We
fished, hiked, canoed, and most importantly we were able to relax in the
peace and quiet. We then stayed home and enjoyed our time staying up late
and sleeping in. We ended the summer visiting our family in Colorado. While
there my sister talked me into riding the Skycoaster over the Royal Gorge
Bridge. The Skycoaster is a ride that swings you 1200 feet above the
Colorado River. It was quite amazing, but I’m sure I’ll never do it again.
I’m now ready to swing calmly into the school year!

A little more background.....
My husband and I moved to Austin in 1998 from Colorado. We love Austin, but
both of our families are in Colorado, and we try to make it back every chance
we can. Our Christmas vacation is always spent with our families there, and
we always try to get some skiing in. With both of us growing up in Colorado
we have a great love for the outdoors, and spend as much time as possible
outside.

What I want for my students.......
My hope and vision for my students is that they will have success throughout
the year, and begin to realize thier own potential.
I want them to know that we all have different ways to learn, whether your
the smartest kid in the class or the one that has to work twice as hard to
figure out what needs to be done. In our classroom I will expect them to
always give me their best, and we will be there to help them discover how
successful they can be.
I'm a true believer in teaching my students not to say "I can't!" To me that
just means you won't. You may not be able to do it at first, but with work
and help we'll get you where you need to be.

I look forward to having a great year with my students and their families!!
