WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH YOU?
The best way to communicate with me is by email or writing a
message and sending it with your child. My email address
isStacye_Beane@roundrockisd.org. I make an effort not to take
class time to respond to phone calls. I check my email first thing in the
morning, again at break and then after school. If you have a message that needs
to get to your child, please call the office at 464-4200. I make an effort
to respond in a timely manner.
HOW DO YOU TEACH READING?
I implement the Daily Five and Daily Cafe structures to teach reaing while integrating
the Reading Series.
HOW DO YOU TEACH MATH?
I use a lot of manipulative during math instruction. I also
focus on problem-solving skills such as using different strategies and
communicating the solution process to others. I try to use whole group and
small group games to reinforce concepts.
HOW WILL STUDENT BEHAVIOR BE DOCUMENTED?
Each student is responsible for his or her own behavior. Each
child who ends the day with their clip on blue will receive a sticker on
their card. Every other Friday, we will shop in our reward menu. I also
give many whole-group rewards for compliments, class perfect
days, etc. If a child chooses to break a rule, they will get a
verbal warning. The next step is to move their clip to green,
which is a warning. They will lose their sticker. The next step
is yellow, and the child will need to sit out of 5 minutes of
recess. Next, is orange and the consequence for this step is
10 minutes of recess. The final step in this room is red.
That will be in time out at recess for 10 minutes. If a child
moves off of red, I will contact you with a phone call or letter
and they will visit with someone in the office. Please realize
that if an offense of a more serious nature occurs, the
student will not go through the steps listed above. They will
talk with someone in the office. Students who leave the room for other
classes are to always follow classroom and school rules.
WHAT AM I TO DO WITH THE TAKE HOME FOLDER?
Please review the work coming in the folder. As a rule, I have
the
student�s correct work before it goes home. However, your child
might need
some additional help in an area. Please sign the folder and
return it the
next day with any papers for me.
HOW DO YOU USE TUTORIAL TIME?
The time has been set aside for all of second grade. During
tutorials,
students may be working on remediation skills, enrichment
activities, or
catching up on incomplete work.
HOW DO YOU TEACH WRITING?
Your child will be learning to write for a variety of purposes.
They will
be using the six traits of writing and learning to edit writing
(of others
and themselves). I do a lot of modeling and conferencing to help
them
develop their writing skills.
WHAT ARE YOUR RULES ABOUT FOOD?
Please send a snack with your child with a water bottle. Snacks
are not to
be shared with others in the class. Birthday treats will be
passed out after
2:30 and we will sing to the birthday person.
