Sudden cardiac arrest affects adults, teenagers and children and,
unfortunately, many will die without immediate access to an Automated
External Defibrillator (AED). An AED is a small, portable device that
analyzes the heart’s rhythm and prompts the user to deliver a defibrillation
shock if needed.
The “Heart of RRISD” program was established by a group of concerned parents
with support from Round Rock ISD, the local chapter of the American Heart
Association, and public safety officials to solicit donations to place and
maintain AEDs in every Round Rock ISD
One hundred percent of all donations will be used to purchase AEDs or for
related training and supplies. Groups or individuals may “sponsor” one or
more schools in their area by contributing the entire amount necessary to
place the unit(s) in a designated school. The full cost is about $2,500 each,
including training and supplies. However, every dollar counts and all
donations are welcome and appreciated!
Please send your tax-deductible donation to Heart of RRISD, 1311 Round Rock
Ave., Round Rock, TX 78681. Checks should be made payable to “Round Rock
ISD.” For more information, call Heart of RRISD organizers Leslie Hudson at
(512) 331-2982 or Tina Pruett at (512) 250-0878.
Thank you for supporting your public school community in this life-saving
cause!
