FAQFrequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
When is the conference period? My conference period is 10:30-11:15, Monday through Friday. I welcome both phone calls and visits. I am also available after school 3:05-3:40. What should I do if my child misses a day of school? Send a written note explaining your child's absence. You can call me to request missing work on the day of the absence. If I don't receive a call, I will send the work home when your child returns to school. If you know of an absence in advance, I am able to send the missed school work home before the absence. Why do I have to sign the assignment spiral? The assignment spiral is a daily communication tool students, teachers, and parents can use to keep up with daily events in the classroom. When parents initial the assignment spiral pages, I know the student has shown what we did in the classroom that day, and what the homework is for that night. The bottom of the pages can also be used to write back and forth to improve communication. What is the easiest way to contact you? Email is the best way. You can email me from this web page. Click on the email link and my email address will automatically "pop up". I check my email at least twice every day, and once on Saturdays and Sundays. I am also accessible by cell phone on school nights. You will be given the cell phone number when your child enters my classroom as a student. I update the web page every Friday afternoon. You can find out early what the homework assignments and spelling words will be for the upcoming week. If my child has a fever, when may my child return to school? The rule of thumb is your child needs to be "fever-free" for twenty-four hours before returning to school. Is it all right to pick up my child early on Fridays? If your child has a medical or dental appointment, let me know in advance and I will send home work that will be missed. We learn in the classroom until the "end of the day" bell rings. Science, Social Studies, and Writing Workshop are taught after lunch. Even one afternoon missed can make a difference. |
