Birthday Book Club

Birthday Book Club

The purpose of the Birthday Book Club is to emphasize the importance of reading, build the library collection, and create a sense of pride in the students by having books donated by students to the library in honor of his or her birthday. The program gives us the opportunity to be a special part of our students' birthdays.

How would you like to see you child's name in books at our library?

Birthday Book Club Celebrations take place on the 15th of the month (or a date close to the 15th if the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday) in the Library from 8:00am-8:30am. The celebration begins with the students choosing books to donate to the Library from a shelf of prepurchased books. Once chosen, a bookplate is inserted in the first page of the book stating the book was purchased by your child in honor of his/her birthday and includes the date. Then, the student is the first person in the school to check out the book. From there, we all sit down and listen to a story by an author who also has a birthday that month. After the story, students will be given a chance to choose a prize from the Library treasure box. Parents are encouraged to attend the Birthday Book Club Celebration.

The donation for a hardcover book is $15.00. Mrs. Towle will purchase the books. Please remit your donation in the form of cash (no checks, please). Kindly supply your child's name and birthday on the envelope along with your donation.

How Do I Join?

It is easy to join the Birthday Book Club. Forms are available in the front office or in the library. Simply send the form back in with a $15 donation. Although it helps us to be more prepared for celebrations if you turn in your form early, it is O.K. if you turn it in the morning of the celebration. The form will soon be available on the website and can be turned in at any time. If you would like to know more click on the "Have Questions?" link at the home page of the Library website to email your question to Mrs. Towle.

My child's birthday has passed! How can we participate?

If your child has had a birthday, you can still have a book donated on their behalf. Any submission we receive during a given month may participate in the Birthday Book Club activities.
