Teachers stay until 3:30 everyday after school to provide homework support.
I stay on Thursday. All we need is a signature from Mom or Dad so the
student can stay. Be looking for a permission slip or just send a note.
If you want your student to stay for Social Studies help on Thursdays, print,

PARENT SIGNATURE
Parents, here is how you can help your student make an A!
1 Use Parent Pointers to help you talk to your student about Social
Studies.
2 Use the study guide to help your student prepare for the Social
Studies test.
3 Use the vocabulary list to help your student prepare for the Spelling
test.
4 Check your student’s notebook at least weekly to make sure they are
getting their 5 daily grades.
6 Check your student’s grades. Require them to show you tests and
notebooks. Of course you can ask the teacher, but it is better to get the
student in the habit of knowing and reporting his/her own grades. If your
child is making less than As/Bs, you should check grades every week. Require
improvement. Expect As.
Parent Pointers (Here are some things to talk about with your 5th Grader.)
Ask,
1 What were the strategies of the Union and the Confederacy in the Civil War?
2 Who were some of the key leaders in the Civil War?
3 How did the geography, the landforms, of the southern United States affect
the strategies of each side in the Civil War?
4 What dangers were there for soldiers besides being killed in battle?
