What does the school's social worker do?

Robertson Elementary's social worker works as a link between home and 
school to help students increase academic success, maximize educational 
opportunities, improve interpersonal relationships,  and cope with crisis 
situations.  This is accomplished by working with school personnel while 
connecting with family members to gain valuable information for helping 
students achieve.  The social worker serves as a facilitator, encourager, 
motivator, coach, guide, coordinator, resource, consultant, educator, and 
advocate.

What services are available to students at Robertson?

All students are offered a comprehensive, developmental school guidance and 
counseling program.  The services on campus include: classroom guidance 
lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, consultation with 
parents and staff, mentorship programs, student service programs, drug and 
violence prevention lessons and behavioral consultation.

Why contact the school's social worker?

The social worker has information and expertise regarding a variety of 
issues including transitions(family and school), academic achievement 
concerns, crisis response, relationship issues, and behavioral concerns.  If 
you have questions or concerns, the social worker is an excellent resource 
for you and your family.

How do students get to see the school's social worker?

Students can refer themselves by talking to their teacher or by talking 
directly to the social worker.  Teachers, administrators, and parents can 
make referrals to the social worker as well.

Do I need an appointment to see the social worker?

In times of crisis, no appointment is necessary.  However, a large majority 
of the day is scheduled for direct services to students therefore, calling 
ahead for an appointment is helpful and is encouraged, 
but not required.

How can I reach the social worker?

Call 428-3313.  Voice mail is available and every effort is made to return 
calls witin 24 hours or less.
