For Parents

Thank you for supporting the library by visiting our Book Fair! We
reached our fundraising goal of over $13,000 in sales making around $3,000 in
profit for the library program. The funds are used for research databases,
books, equipment, and visiting authors.

Thank you again for your support. Happy Reading!!

**Please be aware that your child may check-out and bring home an audio book
from the school library. In this day and age most of our students have ear
buds for their ipods or headphones already at home. The library will not be
supplying ear buds (since they would need to be cleaned after each student
use). The players may also be used with ipod speaker systems.

The audio books run on one AAA battery that I can supply for your child when
needed. If you have some at home and it runs down in the middle of their
story, I have asked students to go ahead and replace the battery so they can
keep listening or bring them back to me the next day and I will replace it.

**Please supply one large (gallon size or larger) plastic baggy for your
child to store their library books in while carrying them in their backpack.
This is the number one place where books get ruined from water bottles,
snacks or just being shoved in with other items that bends or tears pages.

Help your child set a goal for the Bluebonnet reading program this
year. There are twenty books on the current nominee list for 2010-2011 and
all students have read at least 5 with me or their classroom teacher last
year. The program runs February to February so students have plenty of time
to set a goal and read as many as they want.

If your child checks out a Bluebonnet book or the audio version, they
must write a book report or do a crossword puzzle and turn it in to the
basket in the library.
If the librarian or teacher reads the book, your child will receive credit
for that book and it will be recorded in the Bluebonnet record books kept in
the library.

The students have been shown where to pick up or drop off their reports
and to make sure they put their name, teacher's name, and fill out the forms
neatly and completely.

**Below are the rewards for reading:

If your child reads 5 books-they may vote online for their favorite book at
the end of the program on January 31st, 2010.

10 books = medal
15 books = field trip (TBA and will take place in May after TAKS)
20 books = trophy

*Prizes are cumulative! Students will receive their awards on the field trip.
