Dear Parents,
Due to recent school board decisions, there will be significant changes made to the World Geography department.
These alterations include:
1. The categories in the grade-book will be divided by
Minor Grades: 60% - These grades are comprised of class-work, quizzes, & homework
Major Grades: 40% - These grades are comprised of tests, projects, & essays
2. Students may retest for up to a 70 only if they score less than a 70 on a Major or Minor assessment. Students have one week from receiving their grade to retest or redo their assignment.
3. Students may turn in late work for a score of a 70 until the material is tested. If the assignment is due the day of testing, students will have two calendar days to turn in the missing assignment.
4. Proficiency scales will be replaced with “I can…” statements that will be displayed along with the learning objective so that students can recognize and understand the goals of instruction.
5. Finally, the World Geography department will continue to use the District Learning Goals to ensure that student learning is aligned to district and state standards.
It is important to remember that no matter what, the geography teachers at Round Rock High School are committed to successfully preparing your student for the STAR End of Year Course Exams. We will continue to do everything in our power to insure your child has the best opportunity available to grow in learning and be successful this school year.
Thank you for your continued support in this process.
Sincerely,
