This is my first year teaching and I am thrilled to be teaching at Round Rock
HS. I grew up all over the US and in Guam as my father was in the Navy. I am
a graduate of a private liberal arts university, Azusa Pacific University, in
California. You may not have heard of this school before but perhaps
have heard of a few of our graduates - Christian Okoye, former running back
for the Kansas City Chiefs; Dave Johnson, Decathalon Bronze Medal winner in
the '92 Olympics; and Bryan Clay, Decathalon Gold Medal winner in the 2008
Olympics.
I was a Business Admin Major/Psychology minor in college. After graduating I
spent the next 16 years in the corporate business world working for companies
such as Citicorp, MCI, Worldcomm, Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Carnival
Cruise Lines and most recently at an Austin software start-up called
Bazaarvoice. At Bazaarvoice I was an account manager and consulted with
fortune 100 consumer electronics accounts on their social media and social
commerce initiatives. I have also owned a small business where I learned
the challenges and rewards of owning your own business!
In the spring of this year (2009) I decided to pursue my passion of education
and am now embarking on my career as a teacher. I spent the summer attending
and completing teacher certification training through Texas Teachers. I am so
excited to be able to help all of our students learn, grow and most
importantly SUCCEED by becoming life-long learners!
I have been married to Dean for almost 8 years and we have a 5 year old
daughter, Hailey, who will be starting kindergarten this year. This is a BIG
year for our family with many changes and new journeys and we could not be
more excited for what the future holds! We are glad to be a DRAGON family!!
