When can I come in for tutorials?
Tutoring is done by the Math Department. See Tutorial schedule for when and where to go. Go to ANY teacher. DO NOT wait for Janssens' tutoring if he's not running tutoring that day.Back to Top

Do I need a calculator for this class?
A calculator is not required but it can be extremely helpful in all math classes. The calculators to look at are the TI-83 plus and the TI-84 silver. Either one would get a student through all college math classes even if he chose to major in math. If you want to major in engineering you will probably need to get another one when you get to college. The TI-84 has more memory and applications that can be helpful but it is quite a bit more expensive. Look first if there are sales particularly at the beginning of the school year. The TI-83s usually run anywhere from $75-$100, the TI-84 silvers typically run from about $90-$120. I know right now you can get the best deals at either Best Buy, Target, Circut City, Comp USA, Walmart, or other large stores that carry electronics. You can always also look at the pawn shops because college students will get graphing calculators just for one class and then sell them after they are done.I would make sure not to get anything above a TI-84 because then you run the risk of the teacher or a test proctor not letting you use it on a test. Some of the ones with bigger numbers (TI-89 in particular) are not allowed on standardized tests. Also stick to calculators made by Texas Instruments.A calculator will always be provided in class & there is a free online version on the textbook webpage.Back to Top
