Thinking about running for office? Here is a list of the office positions available and what the expectations are for each:
Scientia Board: Run committees such as the following:
Physics Chair:
Organize projects based on their specific subject
Lead all physics related discussions and projects
Provide a lecture once or twice annually on a new discovery in physics or on a concept
Work with Mr. Freeman and his AP Physics projects
Also serves as the Board Directors substitute if absent during meetings
Chemistry Chair:
Organize projects based on their specific subject
Lead all chemistry related discussions and projects
Provide a lecture once or twice annually on a new discovery in chemistry or on a concept
Work with Wieland or Gambrell on chemistry related activities or services
Biology Chair:
Organize projects based on their specific subject
Lead all biology related discussions and projects
Provide a lecture once or twice annually one a new discovery in biology or on a concept
Work with Lopez on either her secret garden or other activities she could have planned
Civic Officers: Manage the order of the club in keeping up with financial matters, membership, and club activities.
Vice President:
1. Helps the president manage and organize events
2. Takes the responsibilities of the president in his/her absence
3. Maintain communication with civic officers to ensure tasks are completed.
Treasurer:
1. Obtain the financial records of the past treasurer and make certain all records are in order.
2. Organize all accounting and budgeting procedures for the coming year.
3. Be certain the club bank account is in proper order.
4. Deposit all funds immediately.
5. Always obtain a receipt for any expenditure of funds.
6. Always give a receipt upon receiving payments to the club treasury.
7. Transact all club business by check.
8. Keep a general journal to show the chronological flow of funds.
9. Keep the board director and president informed on the club’s financial position.
10. Collect club dues and other money from club projects, donations, etc.
11. Planning and managing fundraisers throughout the year.
Secretary:
1. Record civic meeting details, such as what has been decided and all ideas that were proposed for later use.
2. Record minutes of all board meetings and club business meetings. These records should include members present, guests present, presiding officer, speaker and subject.
3. Be in charge of sign up sheets for events.
Historian:
1. Make the window (100 Bldg) as needed and create a scrapbook for each year’s activities that displays the club’s activities and achievements for that year.
2. Take pictures at projects, socials, and special events.
3. Be present at the meetings of the scientia board and the civic officers.
Parliamentarian:
1. Ensure all aspects of the club meetings are in order.
2. The display of banner, bell, and gavel
3. Keep attendance records.
