I started working in classrooms in the fall of 2001 while I was studying at UT
in the UTeach program (for high school math and science teachers). I am
currently getting ready to start my Master in Math Education in their summer
program. I finished my B.S. in Mathematics at Texas State - San Marcos in
2005 and then began teaching 8th graders in Leander ISD in 2005. I first came
to RRHS for the 2008 - 2009 school year and enjoyed working with the students
and faculty. I am really looking forward to continue working with RRHS
students and working so that each of my students will enjoy Geometry.
I believe the classroom should provide an environment where students learn
academic and social skills and feel comfortable taking positive risks
through participation in discussions and activities. My goal is for your
child to enjoy being at school, become a more efficient learner and develop
confidence in his or her abilities. I promise to help your child have a
successful year in math and get the foundation necessary for further math
classes.
Each student who enters my classroom brings unique strengths and individual
needs, and I am committed to designing my teaching day to meet these needs.
I believe all students are capable of being successful learners and deserve
respect and support in the process. The most important ingredient for
success this year is good teamwork among the student, teacher, and the
family. I look forward to forming a partnership between the school and home
that ensures your child's success.
I hope to instill a wonder about the world and an appreciation for math.
I desire to create life-long learners and everyday mathematicians. Given the
proper tools, each student can explore and continue the learning past the
classroom. This kind of learning stays with you and becomes a part of who
you are. It may seem like a lot of words and numbers, but it is the essence
of existence; it is the art of life.
