This is a follow-up to the note sent earlier, we have uploaded the RNA &
Protein Synthesis Summative Assessment review sheet, extra Notes
on "Regulating Gene Expression" on Moodle and Teacher website.
The short note on "From Genes to Proteins" was not uploaded because it is the
repetition of the Protein Synthesis process.

and have practiced the protein synthesis and Mutation process in class prior
to the posting of these supplemental materials.
Please make sure you answer the questions on the review sheet and bring your

November News!!!
The 3rd Six Weeks is here so fast!
The “Updated Round Rock High School Biology Policy” has been handed out to
students today (A-Day 11/10/11) and will be handed out to B-Day students on
11/11/11. Please parents and students are required to sign and return the
bottom part of the page to Mrs. Olowoyeye.
Thank you!
We started studying Genetics, an interesting unit the students love so much.
Students have been assigned a “Family Tree” project. They are required to
collect data on their families on a particular trait that has been passed on
from generation to generation; they will create a family tree of their choice
that includes the disease (trait), age of onset, and current status of the
trait in the family; they will determine if there is a steady manifestation
of the disease in a leg of a family; and will evaluate their personal risk of
any disease (trait) observed in the family.
Students’ first draft (progress on the research) will be checked for progress
grade on November 17 and 18.
Students can then complete the final report during the “Thanksgiving Break”
and we encourage them to interview/talk to extended family members in order
to gather more information about the trait.
Family Tree finished product due 11/30/11 and 12/1/11.
The calendar for the rest of the 1st semester is also posted on the Handout
section of Teacher web and on Moodle.
Ms. Villarreal (Intern Teacher) has been an awesome teacher for the past 3
months of her internship with me. Her last day with us this semester is
December 2, 2011. I have discussed this with the students and we all
appreciate the time she has spent with us.
Thank you Ms. Villarreal. We wish you the best!!
Important!!!
Report cards for the 2nd marking period will be mailed home.
