• how people adapt to and modify the environment

• characteristics and benefits of the free enterprise system

• describe economic activities in the United States

• Declaration of Independence

• U.S. Constitution

• Pledge of Allegiance

• democratic society

• identify important leaders in the national government

• Bill of Rights

• customs and celebrations of various racial, ethnic, and religious groups

• contributions of famous inventors and scientists

• critical-thinking skills including sequencing, categorizing, and summarizing information and drawing inferences and conclusions
