How do I contact the library?
By mail at 9800 Sean Drive, Frisco, Texas 75035
When can I visit the library?
The library is open Monday-Friday from 7:30am - 3:30pm.
Our library operates on a "modified-flexible schedule" which means--
no more waiting until library day--students can come to the library whenever
they want or need! Small groups, individuals and classes can all visit the library
at the same time, any time, for reading or research.
How many books can I check out?
It depends...
Kindergarten students = one book
1st and 2nd grade = two books
3rd through 5th grade = three books
If there is a special assignment in class, students may be allowed
to check out extra items. Books can and should go home to read with family each night.
All books are due when you have read them through! Some students choose
long books that take a couple of weeks to read, other students like shorter
books that may only take a day or two to read. Please return books as soon as
you are finished, since others may be waiting to read them.
The computer marks all items overdue that are kept out for more than two weeks.
If you would like to keep any items longer than two weeks please come to the library
to renew them. The library does not charge fines for overdue items.
What happens if an item from the library is lost or damaged?
Lost books must be paid for in order to clear student records and allow them
to check out another book. Students will be asked to send money for lost and damaged
items depending on the repair or replacement cost. Cash or money orders
payable to "Smith Elementary" are accepted for payment.

Special reading encouragement programs are offered throughout
the year for all students. Students in all grades can participate in
the SOAR Reading Program with Pizza Hut rewards. Students in grades
K-2 can read and draw with the Caldecott Reading Program. Grades 3-5
can read our famous Bluebonnet Collection and earn medals and trophies.
Students can earn a free trip to Six Flags with the Read To Succeed Program.
Who works in the library?
Mrs. Pelias is starting her library career after 17 years of teaching
grades up and down the educational ladder. She received a Bachelor’s of
Science in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University, a Master’s
Degree from University of North Texas and Library Certification from
Texas A & M Commerce. She is very excited about working with all of the students this year!
Mrs. Elledge is a former PTA president and Smith mom and will be joining
the Smith staff this year as our library aide.
How can parents get involved?
The library is always looking for volunteers! Contact Mrs. Pelias
if you would like to help on a regular basis with shelving, making copies, or
creating displays. Look for opportunities to help with special events, such as
Book Fair, through our PTA.
Parents can check out books! We have a special parenting section of
the library with great books to choose from or select a favorite
children's book to share with your student. In addition, the Frisco Public
Library offers weekly programs for parents and children to attend. Visit the FPL website
