Let me start off by saying how happy I am to be here at Spicewood. What a
fantastic group of students, parents, and teachers! I couldn't be part of a
more wonderful learning community.
About me:
Originally from Paris, Texas, I moved to here about 12 years ago to attend
the University of Texas, where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in
Studio Art. I hold an All-Level Art teaching certificate (grades PK-12) as
well as an EC-4th grade Generalist certification. This will be my sixth
year at Spicewood. Previously, I was a classroom teacher for two years in a
small, eastside school in Austin ISD. I'm married and live in NW Austin
with husband, Tim, who still wants to be a rock star when he grows up! In
addition to my love for all kinds of art, I'm an avid music-lover and love
to read. I consider myself a life-long learner and hope to inspire the same
in my students. In the future, I plan to pursue a Masters of Fine Arts
Degree.
My mission:
I feel like we are all artists inside. Across all cultures and throughout
history, people have felt the need to creatively express themselves. This
is a common human element and bond that is shared by us all. By creating a
safe environment to let this expression flourish, I hope to expose the inner
artist in all of my students. I believe everyone can create beautiful,
meaningful works of art and feel successful if given the right tools.
Together we will explore a variety of media and techniques, take adventures
through art history, contemporary art, and world culture. Armed with these
tools & knowledge, I hope my students will begin to see the beauty in the
world around them and in their inner selves in a new, more passionate and
perceptive way.
