My name is Mithu Deb and I am so pleased to be your child's art teacher this year!
I live in Austin with my 15 year old daughter Chaaru and my Husband Manas. This will be my first
year with Round Rock ISD as a "dual campus" art teacher, which means I travel back and forth every
other week between Spicewood Elementary and Laurel Mountain Elementary. I have 24 classes total
between the two campuses. Besides teaching in the classrooms of the two RRISD elementary, I have
my own home studio where I teach art and pottery to five year olds to adults.
art background + experience working with kids = TEACHING ELEMENTARY ART
(...which is the best job ever! I love what I do for a living!)
Art is an adventure! I am so happy to have the chance to take this journey with my students. The
subject of art offers a unique opportunity for everyone to "think outside the box"; a creative flexibility
which benefits everyone - no matter your age, career, or where you are from. I look forward to a
bright new school year!
My hope for this new school year is that students in my room will further increase their enjoyment and
knowledge of various types of art, approach learning about art as both a personal and group experience,
and to have fun making art!
Art is vital to the human spirit. Art is used in every profession and it improves our enjoyment and
respect of the beautiful variety of the different people and places within the world. It speaks a visual
language through colors and subjects that crosses all cultural barriers. It teaches history and it also
teaches us so much about ourselves. Even more wonderful to me is that art is a subject that can be
enjoyed by those who's goals are to be serious members of the art community as well as those who just
have fun creating for creations sake.
