Welcome to the Spicewood Counseling Department! I am so excited to be here!
As a product of Round Rock ISD I graduated from Westwood High School in 1990,
then went to Texas Tech University for my degree in Human Development and
Child Development. After beginning my teaching career here at Spicewood, I
went on to teach for 5 years while earning my Masters in Guidance and
Counseling from Southwest Texas University. I've been a counselor for the
past 10 years both at the elementary level, and most recently at the middle
school level. I am here to support our students, teachers, and parents with
any social, emotional or personal needs you may have. Please feel free to
contact me at 428-3609 or through email. I look forward to working with our
Spicewood families this year and will do whatever I can to ensure success for
our students!
The mission for the elementary counseling program is to encourage the
optimum development of each student in the areas of: Academic Development,
Career Development, and Personal/Social Development. This is accomplished
through four components of the comprehensive developmental guidance program
at Spicewood.
The counselor provides guidance activities/lessons in a systematic way to
all students through classroom guidance curriculum. Immediate needs of
students are met through responsive services in individual or small group
guidance. Individual planning is used to assist students in understanding
and
monitoring their own development in the areas of education, career and
personal/social with the use of academic/career plans as appropriate.
Finally, the counselor provides assistance by managing activities and
services for system support.
