Play a lot!!!!
Read for at least 20 minutes each night.
Also, practice the High-Frequency words I sent home for the first 9-week
period.
Some suggested ways to study the words:
--Make flashcards.
--Call the words out while you're in the car and have your child spell them
out loud.
--Have pretend, written spelling tests(only if this is fun for your child -
it could be torture for some!)
Practice math facts.
Some suggested ways to practice:
--Call out simple addition problems like 2+1. Your student should practice
putting 2 in their head and counting on one more. Work up to larger numbers.
--When out at a restaurant, use the sugar packets to practice counting and
adding numbers. Put some white ones in a group and some pink ones in a group
and have your student say the problem like five whites and 4 pinks makes nine
altogether.
--When setting the table, have your student count/add up the forks, knives,
and spoons.
