I have lived in Austin since I was two years old. I went to Zilker and
Joslin Elementary Schools, Porter Jr. High, and Crockett High School. I
graduated from Texas State University with a B.S. in Elementary Education
and a Master's Degree that enables me to teach children from three years of
age to third grade. I have taught kindergarten for thirteen years, first
grade for four and a half years, second grade for six years, and now I'm back
in first grade!
I think Spicewood is a very special place. I have two daughters who graduated
from here so as a mom, I'm really glad they went here, and as a teacher, I
can't imagine teaching anywhere else. My youngest daughter is Blair and my
oldest is Reagan.
I have been married for twenty-six years to Lester, who loves kids and will
probably be popping in to visit with my students so you'll
probably hear about him. I live in the Spicewood neighborhood and love being
part of such a wonderful community.
My goal is to provide all students with a safe, nurturing, academically well-
balanced environment, that promotes a desire for learning, a strong sense of
community, and an awareness of the importance of being responsible for
one's own learning. I plan to implement this by reinforcing the need for
following school rules pertaining to being safe, respectful and responsible,
recognizing effort shown by individuals and by planning lessons that meet
the needs of each learner.
