Dear Parents,
We have weekly planners. Each day your child will write in their planner and it will come home to you. This is a great communication tool for all three of us! It requires that both parent and teacher initial the planner. At the beginning of school, it is a little challenging at first to get the planner from school to home and back, but it eventually works out and it is seamless. Please find a "homework" spot for your child and they can always know that the work and planner will be there before heading out the door.As we all know, sometimes our lives are very busy. If your child is unable to complete their homework because something has come up -- another late night commitment -- please send me a note and they may have another night to complete it.
Our nightly homework includes 30 minutes of reading with a 90 second summary to be completed by your child. This sheet also contains a place for parent initials. Students read a book from home. Parents will check for appropriate reading level. (Students should choose another book to read if their book choice is too easy or too difficult.)Practice Sheets - Weekly Math Practice 18-2,18-3,18-4,18-5. Wednesday -- please have your child go to TenMarks.com. They will need their username and login (they are the same) and found at the front of their planner. I showed them where to go to begin their assignments. We have started our new UOI "Sharing the Planet". Our central idea is : Living things adapt in order to survive in their environment. In third grade, we find that having an analog watch is a key factor in your child recognizing the time on an analog clock. Please consider buying an analog watch for your child. They are so used to reading digital that it is a challenge for many of them. Thank you so much!
