Dear Parents,

Next Friday we will be celebrating Chocolate Fever Day. Throughout the week
we will be reading “Chocolate Fever” and then culminate with learning
activities around the theme of candy. Children are able to wear their pajamas
and slippers. Also, please “give” them chocolate fever by applying brown
freckles to their faces! (An eyebrow pencil works great!) The children will
be able to hand out their Valentine cards, as well. If your child chooses to
hand out cards, please have one for each child. Throughout the week, have
your child sign their cards in their best handwriting, so that everyone knows
who to thank.

For math we will be measuring and estimating. Continue to practice counting
coins at home. We will also practice during our calendar time.

We will wrap up our POI: How the World Works this next week. It has been a
fun unit as we have explored different systems, and especially animals and
their habitats. Next we will be learning about famous people and landmarks
around the world. Your help will be needed for research. Stay tuned for that
information.

The January Literature homework was wonderful! What awesome thinking that the
children showed! It was neat seeing the different types of cycles that they
came up with, as well. February’s homework is in the Friday Folder today. It
is due February 26.

Next Wednesday, February 10th, is Early Release. Students will be dismissed
at 12:45.

Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy the weather!
Fondly,
Lynn
